Go Vegan

Vegans do not consume any animal products such as meat, fish, dairy, eggs, or honey. Other animal products that vegans avoid include fur, leather, silk, and wool, as well as cosmetics and other products that have been tested on animals.

Why vegan?

Veganism is a philosophy that promotes a cruelty-free lifestyle by avoiding all forms of exploitation of animals by humans. Humans use and kill billions of animals each year for food, clothing, research, etc. By not consuming animal products or products tested on animals, vegans save lives and reduce suffering.

Veganism is also an environmentally responsible lifestyle. In its 2010 report Assessing the Environmental Impacts of Production and Consumption, the United Nations Environment Programme stated that:

Animal products, both meat and dairy, in general require more resources and cause higher emissions than plant-based alternatives (pp79, 80).

Plant-based diets such as veganism therefore have a much lower carbon footprint than omnivore diets. Also, raising animals for food requires enormous amounts of water. For example it takes over 5,200 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef, compared to only 25 gallons to produce a pound of wheat (John Robbins, Food Revolution, 2001).

Veganism is also one of the healthiest ways to live and can lower health risks such as heart disease, strokes, cancer, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Eliminating animal products from your diet is much easier than you might think. For more information on veganism please visit http://veganeasy.org/
