20 December 2007 - RSPCA - pet shop impulse buys

The ACT RSCPA has issued this media release in relation to the first impulse buy from a Canberra pet shop. Only two days after being bought on impulse from a Canberra pet shop, a "spoodle" (Spaniel cross Miniature Poodle) puppy was surrendered to the RSPCA for rehoming.

DEFENCE BREACH OF COMMONWEALTH LAW KILLS 1000 KANGAROOS AT MAJURA

Animal Liberation ACT has learned that the Department of Defence was in breach of

Commonwealth law when it participated in the recent hearing in the ACT Civil and

Administrative Tribunal regarding the grant of its licence to kill kangaroos at the Majura

FEARS HELD FOR THE SAFETY OF THE REMAINING MAJURA KANGAROOS

Animal Liberation ACT and the Canberra Kangaroo Coalition continue to keep watch

over the surviving kangaroos at the Majura Training Area (MTA).

Last week the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal ordered the Department of

Defence to suspend any further killing of kangaroos at the Majura site whilst the

decision to grant the killing licence is reviewed.

Massive Slaughter of kangaroos plannned for the ACT

Lennon Bros Circus is in Queanbeyan for the school holidays.  The irony is if they set up less than 2km away in the ACT, the owners would be liable to a year in jail and/or a hefty fine.  This is because circuses with exotic animals have been banned in the ACT since 1992.  Full details follow in attachment...

12 September 2008 - Animal torturers to face Queanbeyan Court, but there’s only half of them!

On Tuesday 16 September 2008 at 9am, Queanbeyan court will hear a case, including video evidence against two individuals charged with torturing to death two ferrets owned by their housemate.  The disturbing incident was recorded on a camera phone.

23 July 2008 - Jamie Oliver's Fowl Dinners

Representatives from Animal Liberation ACT have viewed footage of tonight’s Jamie Oliver TV show in which Mr Oliver suffocates day old male chicks and kills another chicken by electrocution.  Audience members are visibly upset by what they see with some being reduced to tears.
