30 January 2008 - Animal Liberation calls on the ACT Government to implement the 1997 Battery Cage Legislation

Mr Stanhope describes his government’s failure to support the Greens 2007 legislation to ban the battery cage in the ACT as “progress on non-battery eggs”, and admonishes Green MLA, Dr Foskey, not to expect change “overnight”. (Refer  ACT GOV MEDIA RELEASE: PROGRESS ON NON-BATTERY EGGS,  026/08 24 January 2008).  It is eleven years since the people of the ACT, through their elected representatives, enshrined in legislation their will to abolish the battery cage.  Yet there is still no sign of a ban being implemented. This is not exactly overnight.
